Project SCORE (SChool Oil REcycling)

School Oil Recycling (SCORE) spreads the message of environmental conservation and to educate the public on the recycling of used cooking oil. SCORE welcomes schools, community centres and residential committees.

Official Launch of Project RUSCO @ NORTH WEST

Project RUSCO (Recycling of USed Cooking Oil) @ North West was officially launched on 16 January 2010 at Chong Pang Community Club by Guest-of-Honour Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Law &
Second Minister for Home Affairs.

Project RUSCO @ North West is part of the programme under the 3R programme under the Green Living @ North West CDC’s 10-year ECO Plan.  We have to make it real and meaningful for people by bringing it to them.  This programme seeks to achieve that.  North West CDC, Yishun Junior College, Alpha Biofuels (S) Pte Ltd, Schools in this area, Chong Pang City Merchant & Hawker’s Association and the grassroots organisations (GROs) from Chong Pang, Nee Soon Central and Nee Soon East have helped in that effort to help to cultivate a green culture within the District.

Project RUSCO @ North West is jointly organised by the North West CDC, Yishun Junior College and Alpha Biofuels (S) Pte Ltd.  The programme is supported by the N2 School Cluster, Chong Pang City Merchant & Hawker’s Association and the grassroots organisations from Chong Pang, Nee Soon Central and Nee Soon East.

In Project RUSCO, the residents and participating schools were educated on the proper way of disposing used cooking oil to prevent the pollution of our water system. Furthermore, the students from the participating schools learnt the making of raw soap from used cooking oil. With the used cooking oil collected, fund was raised for the North West Food Aid Fund and the School Pocket Money Fund.
